Can you turn a playsuit into a dress
Using a straight stitch, sew the front and back pieces together 1cm above the marked line. Use the pinking shears to cut the fabric along the marked line, creating a U shape. Turn the garment right side out and try it on. Take the garment off, turn it inside out, then fold down the centre front, placing back sections together.
Lay on a flat surface. Take a pair of shorts that fit you well. Fold them in half, placing the back sections together. Lay the shorts on top of the dress, matching the waistlines.
Use the chalk to draw a line down the dress following the curve of the shorts. Pin the dress together down the curved edge - make sure you only pin the front of the fabric as you only want to remove the excess fabric from the front of the garment.
Try the garment on again, it should fit more snugly at the front. You now have a new playsuit! If you fancy giving another upcycling project a try, take a look below for more ideas. Pin the extra fabric on both sides, making a new seam line. You want to pin straight down, lining up with the start of the original crotch seam, matching the hems at the bottom. Turn right-side out for this, then turn back inside out before sewing. Sew the new seam! Be sure to go extra slow, and pick a thread color, thread size, and seam that match the rest of your dress. Cut off the extra fabric.
Leave as little as possible above the seam. You may need to cut near the hem, too — to hide the backing. Iron and wear!
