Who is aaron tveit in les mis

In the film adaptation of the beloved musical, set to hit theaters tomorrow, stage and film actor Aaron Tveit plays Enjolras. For Tveit, that made his first movie musical much closer to his experiences onstage.

Also keeping him on track vocally were those in-ear monitors — the actors had the choice of what mix to hear: the piano, the other actors, their own voice, or any combination of the three. Whenever possible, Tveit opted for the piano and his own voice, a mix that was closest to what he is accustomed to onstage. Really, I've been so blessed it's hard to look back and think anything but that, so I have no disappointments. Truth to tell, the movie Enjolras is a tad diminished from his stage facsimile, who had the whole barricade to himself to chew on.

Here, as in the novel, he must share it with Marius, his best bud who helps him organize the students into revolt but then abruptly short-circuits into an amorous relationship with Cosette Amanda Seyfried , leaving Enjolras pretty much holding the revolution all by himself. On stage, you get to suspend a little more disbelief, but, on film, you have to tell it in a very realistic fashion. Marius and Enjolras have been friends for a very, very long time — this, again, is using Hugo's novel as our bible — and, in the novel, Marius and Enjolras are very much together leading this group of guys until Marius goes off on a tangent with Cosette.

It's the first time I've seen that in Marius. Usually, he's right there standing with me, fire in his heart, ready to fight — but, instead, he's going off at what just happens to be the most critical moment we ever faced, his head in the clouds, falling in love, and that creates a much more interesting conflict, I think. Like the dutiful actor, Tveit returned to the roots of the story — the unabridged Victor Hugo , if you please.

It's a fully fleshed-out world. By the time Enjolras enters the novel as the magnetic leader of the ABC Club and tavern, he has already amassed a fascinating backstory, which Hugo promptly spills. That was like gold for me as an actor. Enjolras' only love was liberty, and he was dedicated to the revolution, but he was a very gentle person.

As far as women were concerned, he wasn't like the rest of his girl-crazy compatriots. He was so focused on the ideals of this revolution that anytime a young lady was around, he'd shamefully lower his eyes. Such an eloquent description of him! I literally printed out those two pages of his description of Enjolras and pasted on the front of my script. Every morning I would look it over before we began shooting.

The character first caught the actor's eye in the original Broadway Les Miz , circa the late '90s and sans Maguire. I'd seen shows before, but I think it was the first time I really had been emotionally invested in going to see a play on Broadway, and it really struck me.

The heroic aspects really pulled me in. I remember it distinctly as being one of those shows that always stayed with me. Then, by the time I started working and got to New York, the timing was off. When I moved to New York, the original had closed and the revival was being cast and I was doing something else, so I kinda never got a chance to do it on stage.

It was amazing to me that my first chance to be a part of it was in this film. The film deals his Enjolras a particular strong hand musically. Also, it's the whole ensemble, but I have a great part in 'One Day More. There's a lot of recitative and sung-through dialogue. Aaron returned to Wicked on January , leaving once again for the Broadway production of Next to Normal , which began previews in March and officially opened on April Aaron returned to Next to Normal on September 7 through January 3, Tveit landed on AfterElton.

He portrayed Zachary Boule, Betty's boyfriend. For this role, Tveit was the only person nominated for the Tony award of best leading actor in a musical in October of He also played a main role in a TV series Graceland.
